We’ve reached the midpoint of the F1 season after the race at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.
McLaren has been practically unstoppable in 2025, and they got right back on the beam following a Canadian GP stunner in which George Russell and Mercedes emerged victorious.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri ran one-two in Austria and Great Britain in consecutive weeks, but Piastri remains favored in the Drivers’ Championship odds.

Oscar Piastri
Oscar Piastri won five of the first nine races of 2025, but he is currently experiencing a three-race losing streak as teammate Lando Norris has stepped up to take the lead.
Piastri was the second favorite in preseason betting, just behind his McLaren teammate, but he’s faced mounting pressure ever since.

Currently, Lando Norris holds the second spot in the drivers’ championship, followed closely by four-time champion Max Verstappen in third with 165 points.
In fourth place, Mercedes’ George Russell trails not too far behind with 147 points.
As the season progresses, it’s clear that McLaren has emerged as the team to beat. If this trend persists, it appears that Piastri’s main competition will primarily come from his teammate, Lando Norris.
I would wait until you can get plus-money odds on Piastri and pass on him at this price.
Lando Norris
He finished runner-up in the 2024 F1 World Drivers’ Championship while driving for McLaren and has secured nine Grand Prix victories throughout eight seasons.
Since his debut in Formula One, he has consistently progressed in the overall standings while representing McLaren.

Lando Norris bounced back from his 18th-place finish in Canada with impressive performances, finishing over two seconds ahead of his McLaren teammate Piastri in the Austrian GP.
He followed that up with a commanding 6.8-second victory in the British GP. The four-time winner of 2025 is currently the second favorite this year at +115 odds.

Max Verstappen
Many consider Max Verstappen the finest Formula 1 driver of this generation and one of the sport’s all-time greats.
His performance last season certainly reinforced this view, as he clinched multiple victories even without having ‘the fastest car’ and significantly outperformed his teammate, Sergio Perez.
Max Verstappen’s odds surged to +1400 after a rough 18th-place finish in Austria, where Kimi Antonelli collided with him on the first lap. They dropped even further to +2000 after he finished fifth in the British Grand Prix.

The four-time defending champion had odds at +2000 following his victory at the Emilia Romagna GP. Still, he has managed only one podium finish in the six races since then.
It does not seem like a wise wager to back on Verstappen this season at this price, as tempting as 20-1 odds are I would much rather pass and take a longshot instead.

Lewis Hamilton
Hamilton demonstrated last season that he can still consistently perform at an elite level.
While he does make more mistakes now than he used to, I believe many of those errors last season stemmed from trying to make up for a car that couldn’t match the pace of McLaren and Red Bull.
Now, the seven-time champion can show he still has what it takes to contend for the top spot in the Drivers’ Championship.

With Ferrari’s car likely being the second fastest as the season begins, Hamilton carries an energy that his younger, more vibrant self would admire.
